Back in Guilford painting another street scene. I'm so captivated by the quaint New England town, Guilford. It has a beautiful town green with lots of trees and plenty of places to sit and relax for an enjoyable afternoon. Sometimes I see kids learning how to ride a bike for the first time, or professionals soaking up the sun on their lunch hour. I've seen yoga classes, bible study groups, and visitors just enjoying the atmosphere.
On the perimeter of the green are shops, churches and the town library. I love this one street, Whitfield Street. I've painted it several time and each time I find something new to explore.
Inspired from a photo I shot in the early fall, I loved the way the light was radiating from between the two buildings and hitting the autumn tree, just right! There were a few people walking along the sidewalk but I always love to add in a few more to tell a story.
Guilford is a dog community and lots of folks walk their dog along the sidewalks, window shopping and even sit by their side as they dine outside.
Such a wonderful small New England town with lots of artistic charm!
